Is Ally Fogg also calling the National Secular Society racist for publishing this article criticising religion?

On the thread that followed his article Zimmerman, Martin and patriarchal misandry: An intersectional analysisI posted an observation about the fact that an advertisement for the charity “Muslim Aid” had appeared on Ally’s  site.

Not for the first time Ally allowed his emotions get the better of his judgment with the following:

“Portraying all members of a religion, even those running an acclaimed humanitarian charity, as being responsible for the worst crimes of their social group is an extremely and inescapably racist thing to do.”    and;

“I say in my guidelines that if you’re a racist shite I won’t necessarily delete it, but I will call you for racist shite.  And I will add that if you pull any crap like that on my blog again, nothing would give me greater pleasure than to ban your spiteful, racist little arse out of here faster than you can say boo hoo censorship…nothing would give me greater pleasure”?

Well your very easily pleased Mr Fogg. 🙂

My response with the questions – “And what race is the Muslim religion so I can be sure which one it is I’m being racist about? For that matter what race is Christianity, or Buddhism?” – not surprisingly went unanswered by Ally although one of his guest did suggest that “colloquial usage of the word encompasses prejudice against others based on race, ethnicity or cultural identity (including religion).”

Then today in a very timely intervention I received notification of the following article – It’s not culture, it’s a crime against humanity” by Anne Marie Waters at the National Secular Society, who writes:

In short, a crime against humanity is being committed in Saudi Arabia. The same can be said for Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and elsewhere; every bit of it is propped up by religion, justified by religion, and strengthened by religion.

In summary, crimes against humanity are committed with impunity. But don’t expect to hear them called that. When committed against a woman, a crime against humanity undergoes a remarkable metamorphosis and becomes “culture” (aka religion). “Culture” — for those insufficiently trained in politically correct totalitarianism — is entirely positive, cannot change, and if you disagree even slightly, you are a racist. Those are the rules.  (my emphasis)

Muslim Aid abides by the discriminatory practices in those countries where it operates:

“The aim of development programmes is neither to bring about major structural changes within the society nor to challenge the social and cultural norms of the society.”
