The Vans, the vans, CalamityJane123, aka BeautifulBurnout, CiF’s BTL Barrister, tells us it’s the message stupid.

CalamityJane123, aka BeautifulBurnout, hasn’t been slow to give us her opinion on the vans contracted by the Home Office to tour the streets of six London Boroughs last week.  Here she is castigating one poster who had the temerity to suggest his wife, a legal immigrant “wants to puke and wonders why nobody has any respect for law abiding immigrants or indeed for the law.”

“It is a pity that, for all her education, she has missed the point entirely, as have you…. I can excuse your wife as she may not have been in the UK for long enough to understand just how charged politically the words “Go Home” are in terms of immigrant populations in the UK.  You, on the other hand, have no excuse at all.”

And what is CalamityJane123’s solution to this affront to human dignity, which she also refers to as:

“despicable dog-whistle tactics to attempt to increase the government’s “anti-immigration” cred,” ;

“despicable methods being used by the government which will lead to hatred and vilification of people based on their assumed immigration status”;

and

“fomenting racial tensions… that it will lead to racist attacks on innocent people who are here quite lawfully” ?

A change of wording, from “- “In the UK illegally? Go home or face arrest”  –

to   –

“Here in the UK illegally? Avoid being arrested and forcibly removed by contacting us now.”

As they say – Priceless.
