Not all of the left operate like Leninist cabals…….

SheffP commenting on Nick Cohen’s Observer article – Why ‘leftists revolutionaries’ are not the best feminists

My main gripe with the article was NC’s generalisations about the ‘left’ – not all of us operate like Leninist cabals by any means – lots of us have a widish streak of anarchism running through us

I’d have thought given the UT’s history of censorship and bannings, a streak of Stalinism would be a more appropriate description.

Also from the thread below the Nick Cohen article, this post from roganis:

As for the anti-police culture in the SWP here is an editorial in the aftermath of the 2011 riots –

“The last thing we need is a state with more ways of attacking ordinary people. The police are the enemy of everyone who want to see a more just, fair society.

It is the actions of the police that marginalise and criminalise so many.

It is the endless stop and search that thousands of mostly young, mostly black people face across Britain, the wholesale harassment of communities.

We should drive the police out of our estates and off our streets.”

Now who does that remind me of?

Ah yes of course it’s BeautifulBurnoutfirst on the 2011 riots:

Or, as my 16 yr old lad put it when he saw Cameron on the telly this evening: “Well, Mr Cameron, this is what happens when you f**k people over.”

second, last year about London’s Metropolitan Police:

If a Met police officer told me it was Saturday, I would have to go and check a calendar for myself to make sure…

And Anne Tanner clairvoyant,  adds this gem:

The SWP is a sect. It is ultra left and Trotsky and Lenin would have disowned them.

That’s the same Anne Tanner who regularly publishes on the UT, the views of the Labour Party’s Militant Tendancy, a Marxist-Trotskyist sect, formerly known as the Revolutionary Socialist League.
